The Young Marines strengthens the lives of America's youth by teaching the importance of self-confidence,academic achievement,honoring our veterans,good citizenship,community service,and living healthy,drug-free lifestyles.The Young Marines promotes the mental,moral,and physical development of its members.Our program will focus on character building,leadership and promoting a lifestyle that is conducive to being good productive members of society.The Young Marines is the officially recognized youth organization program of the United States Marine Corps to the Defense Department's Drug Demand Reduction Effort.

  This is not a program for troubled you and/ or should be used as a babysitting service. We only want youth who are willing to participate, be involved and are ready to make a difference.Please do not send your send to drill, rather talk with them and us to make sure that it is a good fit for both. At times your child will be called on with a short notice for an organization in need of assistance for our help. We will help others, which in trun helps us. This non profit organization is not funded , so we only receive our support by being involved in the community.

Training/ Boot Camp

      Upon joining the Young Marines of Richland County you will undergo a 40 hour orientation program(awake hours),generally spread out over a few days of training affectionately called "Boot Camp". Our unit will meet for a 48 hr period, getting through 3 of the 4 phases. We will then meet two weeks later for the final/test out phase. 

     The youth learn general subjects such as history,customs and courtesies,close order drill,physical fitness,and military rank structure. They will learn map and compass training, survival training as well.After graduating from Young Marine "Boot Camp", the youth have the opportunity to learn even more new skills, earn rank,wear the Young Marine uniform and work toward ribbon awards.

    Young Marines earn ribbons for achievement in areas such as leadership,Charities,community service,swimming,academic excellence,first- aid and drug resistance education.

     As a Golden Globe nominee and Boston Society of Film Critics Award-winner for Best Supporting Actor in director Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket", R. Lee Ermey is one of the most successful and talented actors working in film and television today.
      His numerous roles in feature film include: "Switchback", starring opposite Dennis Quaid and Danny Glover, "Dead Man Walking", "Seven", "Leaving Las Vegas", "Murder In The First", "Life", "The Frighteners" and "Sommersby" as well as his critically acclaimed role opposite Jared Leto in "Prefontaine". He continues doing numerous voice over roles which span from "The Simpsons" to "Toy Story"(1 and 2).
